AI in Publishing in Asia : Uses and Cases

The Singapore Book Publishers Association (SBPA) is pleased to share that Peter Schoppert, Director of NUS Press, will be speaking at the Asia Stage during the Frankfurt Book Fair 2026. He will join publishing and technology leaders from across Asia for a thought-provoking discussion on the opportunities and challenges that artificial intelligence presents to the publishing industry. The session, “AI in Publishing in Asia: Uses and Cases,” will take place on 8 October 2026, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, at Asia Stage, Hall 5.1 A75.

The session will examine how AI is being applied across different publishing markets in Asia and explore the varying perspectives of authors, editors, illustrators, and publishers towards emerging technologies. Participants will discuss how the industry can harness the benefits of AI while addressing concerns around ethics, intellectual property, creativity, and professional practice.

Drawing on his experience in academic publishing and digital innovation, Peter Schoppert will share practical insights into the responsible use of AI, including successful and unsuccessful use cases, the evolving relationship between publishers and technology providers, and the impact of regulatory developments such as the European Union AI Act. The discussion will also consider how AI may influence the creation, production, and dissemination of literary and scholarly works in the years ahead.

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the publishing landscape, this session offers valuable perspectives on how publishers can embrace innovation responsibly while preserving the core values of creativity, quality, and trust that underpin the industry.
