Alam Cahaya is a Singapore-based publishing company founded in 2000 by Mdm Hana Mohammed, an author and publisher dedicated to promoting the Malay language through quality children’s books. Leveraging her expertise in Malay language and literature, she established Alam Cahaya to produce engaging reading materials that inspire young readers. Over the past two decades, the company has published almost 74 titles, featuring picture books that celebrate Singapore’s culture, heritage, and moral values while fostering literacy, imagination, empathy, and a lifelong love of reading.
Hana Mohd is a Singaporean children’s author and the founder of Alam Cahaya. She began her writing journey in 1998, inspired by the need for more quality Malay-language reading materials for children in Singapore. What started as writing for her own children led to the publication of her first Malay language workbook in 1999. Since then, she has written picture books and easy fiction for young readers, with about 54 published titles. In addition to children’s books, she has developed teaching materials and learning resources for the Malay language, supporting educators, parents, and young learners in nurturing a love for reading.
