Epigram Books is Singapore’s leading independent publisher with a strong focus on championing local and regional voices. Established in 2011, the press is committed to developing a vibrant literary culture by publishing compelling fiction, creative nonfiction, graphic novels, and children’s books that reflect the diversity and dynamism of Southeast Asia. We are passionate about storytelling that is grounded in place, rich in cultural insight, and driven by bold, original perspectives.
Our editorial vision is to spotlight authors who challenge conventions, provoke thought, and deepen our understanding of the world through stories anchored in the region’s unique histories, identities, and languages. We actively seek out debut writers and nurture emerging talent, providing a platform for underrepresented voices and fresh narratives that might otherwise be overlooked in global publishing.
Epigram Books is best known for its annual Epigram Books Fiction Prize, the only literary prize in Singapore and Southeast Asia that rewards full-length, unpublished English-language novels. This award has launched the careers of numerous authors and remains central to our mission of elevating regional literature onto the world stage.
Our representative authors include Balli Kaur Jaswal (Inheritance, Sugarbread), Meihan Boey (The Formidable Miss Cassidy), and A.J. Low (Sherlock Sam), whose works have garnered both critical acclaim and international readership.
We also take pride in our vibrant children’s and young adult catalogue, featuring beloved characters and stories that resonate with younger audiences while celebrating Asian values, myths, and everyday life.
At Epigram Books, we believe in publishing that not only entertains but also enlightens, inspires, and builds bridges across cultures through the power of the written word.
